Give Your Child a Head Start at Family Focus

Welcome To Family Focus!

We provide a safe, caring, and fun place for your little ones to learn and grow. Our Early Head Start and Head Start preschool programs are designed to support your child’s education and your family’s needs, and are completely free for eligible families with children from birth to 5 years old. Enrollment is now open!

Our programs are funded through Head Start (HS), Pre-school for All (PFA), Preventative Initiative (PI), and the Childcare Assistance Program (CCAP). We’re proud to be fully accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), reflecting our dedication to providing the highest quality early learning experiences.   • Program Dates: August 24, 2026 – July 31, 2027, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM

  • Hyde Park Center: 100 spots currently available

  • South Shore Center: 148 spots currently available

Am I eligible?

Our programs are funded to support the families who need it most. Your child may be eligible for free Head Start / Early Head Start services if they are between birth and age 5, and meet any of the following criteria:

  • Your family’s income is below the federal poverty guidelines (under $27,320 a year for a family of 3, or $33,000 a year for a family of 4).

  • Your family is currently experiencing homelessness.

  • Your family receives public assistance, such as TANF or SSI.

  • You are caring for a foster child (foster children are automatically eligible, regardless of the foster family’s income).

What do we offer?

Enrolled children and their families enjoy much more than just a classroom. We provide:

  • Quality Education: Expert Early Childhood Education services tailored to your child’s developmental stage.

  • Qualified Teachers: Our Head Start teachers have their Professional Educator License (PEL).

  • Daily Nutrition: 2 free meals and 1 nutritious snack provided every day.

  • Kindergarten Readiness: Using Creative Curriculum and Smart Teach, we equip every child with the skills they need to thrive on day one.

  • Health Care: Direct access to free medical and dental services.

  • Screenings: We use ASQ and ESI screenings to access for developmental and social-emotional skills, so we can provide tailored support for your child.

  • Inclusive Support: Dedicated services and accommodations for children with special needs, including dedicated sensory spaces.

  • Whole-Family Wellness: Access to comprehensive wellness services, monthly parent trainings, educational workshops, and fun family engagement events.
