The South Holland Family Support program provides home visiting services to families with children birth to three years old, and to prenatal women for one hour per child. Additionally, we offer two-parent/parent-child groups per month.
HOME VISITS AND GROUPS
Home visits: The aim of Prevention Initiative is to provide voluntary, continuous, intensive, research-based, and comprehensive child development and family support services for expecting parents and families with children to help them build a strong foundation for learning and to prepare children for later school success.
Duration & Intensity: 60mins bi-weekly (per child) consistency allows for stability for the positive growth and development of children.
GROUPS: 2X MONTHLY- PARENTS HELP TO INFORM THE GROUP TOPICS
Groups provide activities that help inform parents about the developmental needs of their children including their social and emotional needs. As an incentive to group participation and home visits, we provide diapers and milk to group attendees once per month.
Family Advocates provides home visits to support the parent-child relationship, by engaging the parent in developmental activities with their child during home visits and group socialization activities.
