With deep gratitude, we reflect on the remarkable life and legacy of Judith S. Block, fondly known to us as Judy. For 56 years, Judy graced Family Focus with her unwavering dedication, visionary leadership, and boundless compassion. Her impact on our organization and the broader community has been profound, earning her titles such as a gem, an icon, and a champion for children across our great city.
A pillar of strength and compassion, Judy was not just a board member; she was our friend and an extraordinary advocate for the children and families we serve. Her tenure as past board president was marked by unparalleled leadership, overseeing critical programs like Head Start and Early Head Start. Judy’s fearless advocacy and tireless efforts were instrumental in expanding our services and ensuring every child had access to quality education and support.
Judy leaves behind a legacy of tenacity, impact and boundless love for our children. Her commitment to improving lives and her insatiable curiosity about the world set a standard of excellence that continues to inspire us all. Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those she touched.
As we honor Judy’s memory, let us continue to uphold the values she championed. Judy’s legacy will forever inspire us to strive for excellence and compassion in all that we do.
“She was one of the most vivacious, vocal supporters of our organization,” said Dara Munson, Family Focus’ president and CEO. “And she would challenge me as CEO and she would challenge us as an organization if we were talking about a program — she would ask, ‘Are we having the impact we want to have? What more could we be doing to serve those we serve?’”
