Employer Matching Gifts

If you’re an employer - Matching your employees’ gifts to Family Focus makes you a strong partner in supporting your community.

If you're an employee - Ask at work whether your company has a matching gifts program. Your donation can go twice as far if you send it with your employer's matching gift form.  Then, contact us if you have questions regarding the process.

 

Gifts in Honor or in Memory

Is there a person in your life who has served as an inspiration to you? A gift to Family Focus  in Honor or in Memory of someone recognizes that person by helping Chicago-area children and families. Tributes can serve as memorials, or mark significant events, such as Mother’s Day, anniversaries and birthdays.

A gift In Honor or in Memory includes:

  • An acknowledgement card sent to your designated recipient
  • Recognition in our annual report
  • Knowlege that your gift is helping Chicago-area children reach their full potential

Estate Gifts, Deferred Gifts

There are many ways to include a charitiable gift in your will, trust, or estate plan. Planned gifts such as annuities and trusts may provide you with funds during your lifetime, while also providing for Family Focus. Such a gift can be structured in a way that does not jeopardize your current financial needs or those of your loved ones. We encourage you to contact your professional advisor to plan a gift that meets your philanthropic goals and expresses your generosity and caring.

Deferred gift options include:

  • Bequests - Because they do not incure inheritance taxes, bequests continue to be the most popular way to make a planned gift.

  • Insurance policies - When you assign an insurance policy to the Weissbourd Sustaining Fund,  there is an immediate tax deduction for premiums, with proceeds deleted from your estate.

  • IRA - Donating some or all of an IRAm 401(k) or other qualified retirement plan removes the income tax liability.

  • Charity Remainder Trust or Charitable Gift Annuity.

Our development office can provide you, your attorney, or your financial planner with language for your will or other estate planning documents.

Gifts of Stock

A gift of stock (or other appreciated property) entitles you to a tax deduction for the market value of the donated stock (not just your cost basis). If the stock you wish to donate has been held for more than one year, you can avoid capital gains tax on any appreciation of the stock by donating the stock prior to sale. Family Focus benefits by selling the stock without paying taxes on the gain, and you benefit from making a contribution that would be larger than what you might have been able to donate in cash.

With 8 direct service centers serving over 37,000 children and parents, plus afterschool programs in 40 Chicago-area schools, we have long wish lists!
We need diapers - strollers - winter coats - computers - furniture - art supplies - food - and more. Your in-kind donation allows us to devote more money to our programs by reducing operating expenses.
