Family Focus, a leader in the field of family support, seeks qualified candidates for the full time position of the Healthy Families Supervisor at their Englewood Center. Family Focus provides comprehensive resources and support programs for families with young children, pregnant and parenting teens, and at-risk youth at diverse community-based centers in the Englewood community. Family Focus Englewood’s mission is: Promoting the well-being of children from birth by supporting and strengthening their families in and with their communities.

The Program Supervisor will be required to work at various levels, such as: Program Administration and Compliance, Resource Development and Collaboration, and Direct Services. The Program Supervisor is responsible for all Healthy Families program activities and interventions conducted in center-based and community-based settings which include families’ homes and collaborating agencies. This involves group assignments, family assignments, and parent/child focused activities. This will entail the delivery, planning development and evaluation of children’s social, emotional, cognitive, fine and gross motor development. This will also provide the assurance that the center offers a hospitable environment for families, adhere to the family support guidelines, funder contractual obligations, and maintain/develop strong community relations. 

Reporting Relationship: The Healthy Families Program Supervisor reports to the Center Director.

 

Major Responsibilities and Key Tasks

Program Administration and Compliance:
The Supervisor is the designated “Program Contact” and considered to be the principal staff person for programmatic administration of the Ounce of Prevention Fund Subcontract and will serve as the Database Facilitator. Supervisor will manage and supervise Healthy Families program, including conducting staff supervision, contractual compliance, records management, and integration with the other service programs in the center.

  • To ensure that all participants enrolled into the HFI program are given information as to how to file grievances and are notified that all staff are mandated reporters
  • Ensure that all staff reference information is kept in a safe place and can be reviewed by a credential panel at any time.
  • Ensure that HV rates are kept above 80% for all four quarters by calculating rates monthly in Supervisions with each FSW.
  • New staff members are trained according to requirements of HFA guidelines.
  • Ensure that a cultural sensitivity review is conducted every other year.
  • Maintain statistical information system. Work with center coordinators to ensure appropriate records for Healthy Families programs are up-to-date and accurate.
  • Supervise Group Coordinator, Family Support Worker, Doula and other volunteers working in the HFI program.
  • Meet quarterly with clinical support staff and doulas
  • Meet quarterly with hospital staff
  • Ensure that FSW refers participants to Infant Mental Health Specialist and follow-up with Infant Mental Health Specialist through case staffing and individual consultation.
  • Increase the number of children with up-to-date immunizations to a minimum of 80% of children enrolled at any time during program year.
  • Ensure that the number of development screening conducted on time increases to 80% of children enrolled
  • Increase the participation in group services to 80 % with an average attendance of 60%.
  • Increase the number of participants engaged in mental health services to 20 per year
  • Ensure that Doulas maintain a caseload of 37 participants
     

Resource Developer and Collaboration:

  • Assist the Center Director in maintaining strong productive community relations, establishing and maintaining referrals, and collaboration and planning agreements with other agencies.
  • Assist the Center Director in the orientation and training of the advisory council and its fundraising activities.
  • Work as part of a team in the planning and implementation of all center activities.
  • Assist the Center Director in developing an evaluation system for the center under existing guidelines. Responsible for on-going evaluation activities.
     

Direct Services:

  • Support Doulas by attending births on occasions when Doulas have multiple births
  • Work on special projects, events and other activities with leadership team.
  • Observe family support workers interactions with families by observing their home visit at least twice yearly.
  • Serve as an Alternate for family Support worker or Doula when direct service staff is out sick, has multiple births, or is on vacation.
     

Educational Requirements;

The position requires a Masters Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Early Childhood Education or related field. Candidate must have at least two years of supervisory experience, an understanding of how to facilitate parenting groups, with high energy level and personal initiative.
 

Required Work Experience, Skills and Abilities:

  • The Program Supervisor must have a well-developed knowledge base in Child Development and will lead the agency in this aspect of its work.
  • Knowledge of parent/child development and family dynamics.
  • Excellent supervisory and effective strength-based leadership skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with direct services staff, participants and colleagues.
  • Capability to interpret Family Focus programs to parents and the community.
  • Knowledge of community resources, and ability to support community members in acquiring resources for themselves.
  • Clear understanding of the ethics of the helping field or wiliness to learn and adopt its principles.
  • Ability to lead staff to work with families in a strength–based manner, focusing on parent/child interaction which includes but not limited to, floor play, understanding babies cues, temperament and development.
  • Support staff in their professional development goals
  • Understand parallel process as it relates to leadership, direct service staff and participants.
     

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist the Center Director in involving parents in program planning by assisting in the development of agency Parent Advisory Group.
  • Assist the Center Director in planning in-service training for staff and volunteers.
  • Willingness to work on 3 to 5 week-ends per year.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
